The same newspaper that would carry this news would also carry the Rotten saga of a man who holds Indias financial capital to his mercy. Raj Thackarey and his team of rabid men do whatever it takes to be in the public eye. I havent seen a more brash and more nuisence filled politician than him. I also have a lot of respect for his uncle who actually i thought actually fought for the rights of the Marathis while his nephew is just faking it for reasons known to every person in the world apart from the brainless crowd who listen to him. I have a curiosity to know how these politicians think. Do they think that the people at large are big fools who simply get swayed by emotions of hatred against fellow indians let alone fellow humanity. I think they do and they are partially right that there are a few of his followers. But what they do is beyond doubt unjust in the minds of the 98 percent of the remaining population.
Now that starts a debate in my mind. Is it that only people like Raj Thackarey alone to blame for the ruckus that is happening? The answer is not a debate its a resounding NO, only the factors are debatable. I am putting forward a few conclusions of the same here. India is divided into two blocks of politicians- THE EXTREME POWER HUNGRY and THE EXTREMELY CORRUPT. Though there is a interlinking of the two, i am yet to find a third category of politician in the country though there maybe exceptions. Tamil Nadu for example is a prime example of the above two categories, one contender is probably the most corrupt family(Karunanidhis) with some power hungry thespians in the midst while the second contender is the most headstrong power hungry type(Jayalalitha) with a proven corrpution record. So as Voters what choice do we have? Whenever a third alternative tries to emerge, he immediately jumps into the bandwagon of one of the two kinds and the option itself becomes impotent. The problem is TINA ( There is No Alternative).
Why is this such a huge problem for the county of the Mahatma, the problem is two fold. The GREAT INDIAN MINDSET. We as a society are scared of change. Scared of the unknown and always scared of the future. I dont know of a country where everything is talked about has a religion undertone attached to it, yet we call ourselves a secular country. Show me an Indian ( that includes me) who would like to stand in the line for a passport form for an entire day when a passport form is available for 50 bucks for a 10 minute wait. (As u see, the two options are so badly matched that the choice is obvious). I can narrate this recent experience of mine, A pair of shoes was stolen off one of my neighbour's house, they didnt inform my parents(building secretary), in turn parents didnt care about enquiring , even the people whose shoe was stolen didnt care about it, the only person concerned was the watchman whose job was under the gun. The saddest part is we all know who might have carried it away as hardly anyone new comes to the building. Just a bit of investigation and we could have nabbed the culprit. I have heard that we have a resilient mindset, who are used to deep sorrow and deep sadness that we TOLERATE everything. I beg to differ, WE have an INDIFFERENT mindset and a careless attitude which we by all chance have to change.
The second gaping hole is lack of MONITORING by the two watchdogs of the democracy- the Police and the Media. The police is known in India to be a arm of the politico rather than the watchdog- an extremely inept, spoilt(by corruption ofcourse) and sloppy force. But what about the Media. It is the media of the day that has cropped up the Raj Thackareys. Trust me if the media avoids the Raj Thackarey story for one of his episodes and just blacks it out, the next time at his command there would be exactly 20 people ready to carry out his orders for the next episode. Media coverage today symbolises power, one in which the Amar Singhs and the Rajs revel at. But Media is more swayed by sensationalism rather than a social responsibility that it never knew in the first place.
As an individual with a responsibility, it writhes me on my part. Does one vote every five years suffice any complete cause? No absolutely not. It is essential to be part of the local society, be part of NGOs that aid social welfare. It is easy to say that Politics is passe and social activism is different from politics, but thats the only thing thats believable in the present times. We ( that certainly includes me) need to look at what we can do to take more part of this great indian System

The blog is good da. There are a lotta things happening the country which are both good and bad. But unfortunaltely the bad seem to out-number the good. The point is we as a nation are not hard on many things. We call it TOLERANCE and get 'Used to' (as mentioned in the film - A Wednesday) them. Hope the future is not that way atleast.
And wishing you luck for your attempts in join an NGO etc :P
And I m not sure if Bal Thackery was any different. I have heard that he used the same tactics, but towards the ppl in the south. However, I m an ignoramus in this and to comment without the proper knowledge is not a good thing. Maybe, you would want to read more on that..
ya. i am of the opinion that what Bal thackarey didnt do any good, but atleast i think he was genuine in his feelings. not for the want of crass Media coverage. I know that he clearly belongs to the POWER hungry politician type with no feelings of good to the society at large. I believe his nephew is a cartoon whom only he inspired and created. Afterall Bal Thackarey is a cartoonist
its really nice that u r expressing ur thoughts via this blog,i believe we are just passive viewers who can only write n talk about some of the matters u've mentioned b'cauz we stand nowhere in the system ...may be at the most we can do is select right ppl to govern us n its not job of a single man but all of us who r well educated n informed!!!The next major thing we can do is just work hard ,do our best and contribute to the nation with all our capabilities in the right direction and play a role of a good citizen!!!!
hmm.. Analysing the present scenario of our country on all grounds. Well. Whatever you write, nothing is going to change here. Its gonna be the same. So, just get along with it!!
P.S. Too long a post. 3-4 posts ah split panni pota, would be easy to read. Keep rocking!!
Cheers!!!

Nice blog da..This blog reminds me of what Abdul kalam said in his speech at hyderabad.. the media is very negative in india and instead of portraying positive things, only negative things like accidents or as u said useless news of bal thackeray etc are given importance ..of course yes we are accustomed to the "used to" kinda lifestyle.. but then it needs to be changed from the grass root and everyone should have that awareness also... it is we people who have to bring abt the changes to expect the country to change, which is close to impossible :) ... if each and everyone in this country can do their part , then why not this country will be heaven to live in :) ...but the most annoying factor is ,even if some are willing to change ,the rest are more concerned about planning for their downfall instead of supporting them ..if atleast half the energy spent for thinking abt pulling others down is used for thinking about improving the nation, then we would have become a highly developeed nation by now...
the blog is good.... Adding to wat u said media wont publish those good things but will publish other things as tht makes people interested and thats how everyone in india are..... Keep writing blogs and its really good da
The blog is really awesome.. I really enjoyed reading every bit of it.. I totally agree with your views.. I think the problem in our socitey is that no educated person is ready to take up the task of nation building through politics.. Politics has become the refugee of the criminals.. It will take time for us to change the system.. The policial party started by the IITans was a sign in the right direction but then it got faded away.. We must take the intiative and make India prosper..
Exactly, I was to write on the IITians party. It faded away because of the real indian political problem.. Lok Paritran split up into Bharat punarnirman dal and all other bits.... it was a Power struggle again..
cool blog ...i gues TINA can be u :P
We keep blaming the political clout and complaining of the system and power.
It is important to realize the masses are still uneducated and need to look up to a universal command. The true existence of DO AS YOU WILL is a myth and it will be highly dangerous for the masses as we have seen a couple of times earlier how erratic the crowd can get in chaos. People believe powerful people in times of distress.
I belong to the same school of thought. I feel if Media understood their responsibilities better and didn't sensationalize terrorism and violence, it could help nip the anti-social elements in the bud...or atleast not feed them! These elememts( read: Raj T, bombers, etc) feed on publicity and get a kick out of watching their doings been showed on every channel!
Then again..even the news channels need to earn their bread. They will show the kinda stuff that public wants to watch! And so again it boils down to us condemning such news channels who make a movie of every terror act and a hero of every murderer
hey yaar a good write...hmmm at some spots it could have been a lil more stronger(if i may say) but neverthless a gud one and yeah i couldnt agree more dat our mindset needs a complete revamping!!! keep writin'
good contrast dude....
kaha ISRO celebrations aur kaha bad politics by Mr.Chotta Thackrey!!
Yup you made a valid point about the problems that we face in our country...but this is Democracy, its like this in every democratic country..ofcourse, thats not right but there is no form of governance which is full proof ..Democracy has it pros and cons...This is reflected in ur post itself, where there is bright optimism on one hand with chandrayana n all and Raj T refelcting pessimism... Democracy has been around only for the past 60 years whereas 'Jungle Raj' has been here forever... I think we as a country are getting used to this phenomenon(Democracy) slowly... For all the evils that our country faces I dont feel theres any packaged instant solution, neither is there any messiah that will save us... It is the youth(and others) that can make a difference...We should voice our opinion to everyhting we feel is unjust, coz thats the best part of democracy... Something like u have done with ur blog !!Coz realization-->ideas--->actions
-->progress.
Dude cool stuff man..TINA :) like that. I like the way you categorized and speak up to the point , valid points some place it makes you think.Good one man. Keep it up.
